WARNING: I would recommend turning down the volume in some portions, due to poor sound editing on my part back then.

What you’re watching is the third episode of Technology Showdown, an homage to the classic Computer Showdown series.
Back then, I was a huge fan of the Computer Showdown series, so much so I wanted to do an HD remake of the first five episodes (not including the very first one that was more of an RPG-style battle.)
The third Technology Showdown episode brought in some drastic changes compared to the original—the premise in this remains pretty much the same, but unlike the first two episodes (which were merely scene-for-scene remakes), this one offered more additions:
- There was now voice acting throughout the entire episode—every single character in it now has a voice, once again portrayed by yours truly. (It’s definitely not great by today’s standards, especially the over-modulation.)
- The team introductions remain similar to the original Computer Showdown episode, but it has better transitions and custom music to go with it.
- Tux’s final attack was also changed: In the original, it was a mega fart, but in the remake, it’s just a bunch of Linux desktop environments shoved down Winbuntu’s throat—it honestly makes a lot more sense looking back at it years later.
- Finally, there’s a new scene where the Winbuntu splits up—Ubuntu takes a break and departs, while Windows (now alone) decides to track down Apple on his computer, leading us into the next episode…
Technology Showdown: Apple vs. Windows Part 3 (formerly named Test Pilot 3), much like the first two, was generally well-received by Computer Showdown fans—at this point, the series was just a love letter to the Computer Showdown series that appealed to a niche and nothing more… But that would all change soon.
