WARNING: I would recommend turning down the volume in some portions, due to poor sound editing on my part back then.

What you’re watching is the second episode of Technology Showdown, an homage to the classic Computer Showdown series.
Back then, I was a huge fan of the Computer Showdown series, so much so I wanted to do an HD remake of the first five episodes (not including the very first one that was more of an RPG-style battle.)
The second Technology Showdown episode was very similar to the first—a scene-for-scene remake of an old Computer Showdown episode where Apple battles against a fusion between Windows and Ubuntu, only he’s not called “Ubundow”, but rather “Winbuntu”.
Much like the first episode, there were minimal changes compared to the original: Steve Jobs was replaced with Tim Cook in the opening scene, and some dialogue was (once again) changed to be a little more family-friendly.
However, this episode also brought in some new additions:
- Voice acting was introduced in this episode—only Commodore 64, Windows, and Ubuntu got voices, portrayed by yours truly. (It’s definitely not great by today’s standards.)
- This is the first Technology Showdown video to introduce a post-battle scene, where the Winbuntu gets repaired and gains voice acting in the process…and a sense of humor.
Technology Showdown: Apple vs. Windows Part 2 (formerly named Test Pilot 2), much like the first part, was generally well-received by Computer Showdown fans, and so a third episode was quickly put out later in August.
