Editor's Note
What you’re watching is one of my earliest videos, where I show you how to install Windows 3.1x in a virtual machine, as of May 20th, 2014.
A little background: Before YouTube, I hosted videos directly on my website through something called the “Video Corner”, which was basically a page on my website that had a list of video links and…that was it. At the time, I didn’t have a YouTube account and most of the work I did back then was just a hobby. It wouldn’t be long before I started hosting videos on YouTube the following year—the rest (as they say) is history.
As for the video itself: My first screen captured videos were recorded and edited on a 2010 iMac, with Screen Recorder Pro and iMovie apps respectively, with the built-in EarPods mic used as a microphone.
The entire screen recording was done entirely unscripted with no rehearsals, leading to moments like referring to virtualization software as “emulators” (despite the fact that they’re technically NOT the same thing).
But at least it’s a tutorial that’s still somewhat relevant, right?
